Alpha & Omega’s DES Powers New Trinity Lakes Train Station

Last month, Trinity Railway Express (TRE) opened a brand-new station in Fort Worth, Texas. The Trinity Lakes Station is located east of Loop 820 and north of Trinity Boulevard. The new station is a part of Trinity Lakes, a 1,600-acre master planned community that includes retail and residential transit-oriented development.

Alpha & Omega Industries worked with Austin Bridge & Road to build the Trinity Lakes Station from the ground-up. At Alpha & Omega Industries, we provide commercial construction solutions across three distinct divisions: Construction, Electrical, and Management. For the Trinity Lakes Station project, our electrical solutions division, Diversified Electrical Solutions (DES), took the lead as we provided the power the station needed to service the community.

Although our company has extensive experience in delivering projects for the public transportation sector, our team at DES was faced with new challenges we had to overcome that will help us continue to deliver trusted construction solutions and live into our mission of building for the future.

Alpha & Omega Builds Trinity Lakes Station

Starting the project in May of 2022, the DES division at Alpha & Omega delivered commercial power and critical electrical components for the Trinity Lakes Station’s integrated electrical system (i.e., lighting, signaling, and communications), UPS system, and lighting for its new parking lot.

Despite having previous success in the public transportation sector, our team encountered unique challenges as we navigated new territory with Trinity Metro. Even though the station was a new build, our team was still working with a live track. As a safety-driven company, we worked closely with the flaggers to fully understand and follow track rules and regulations to create a safe work environment for all teams involved.

We also devised and implemented new cost-effective solutions, such as partnering with a crane company to complete parts of the project, that allowed our electrical team to focus on their area of expertise and deliver this project on-budget for our client.

Completed on February 9, 2024, the Trinity Lakes Station successfully opened last month. Building this project will help build a new community in east Tarrant County.

Alpha & Omega Builds Relationships

We believe no one man builds alone; it takes a team of contractors, partners, teams, trades, and suppliers working in collaboration to synchronize a complicated construction project. Therefore, collaboration and communication are key to creating team environments where we can work together to achieve a desired outcome.

In the middle of the project, our general contractor put a brand-new team in place, so our staff at DES quickly built relationships with their new team and worked hard to keep clear lines of communication open throughout the build to ensure the project’s success.

Working on this project, our DES division had three different project managers and project superintendents working seamlessly together as well as foremen and project managers collaborating to make necessary changes to keep our team on track throughout the build.

Trinity Lakes Station was Project Manager Becky Farlow’s first project as DES’ new project manager. Although she was new on the job, she remembers the team at Alpha & Omega making her feel welcomed and prepared. Reflecting on the Trinity Lakes Station, Becky said, “The project experience went great, and the team really worked together on this and got me up to speed and embraced me on building this project.

Alpha & Omega Builds for the Community

The Trinity Lakes project resulted in a station that connects the community. This brand-new station will connect local workers and customers to businesses as it makes traveling to work, home, and shopping easier and more affordable.

Aside from lower transportation costs for the community, there are additional benefits for residents and business owners located near public transit. According to a joint study from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR), property values of residential and commercial buildings dramatically increase (with values up to a 24% higher median sale price).

In the same study, they reported that 1 in 4 households who live close to transit do not own a car. With buses and trains available for the Trinity Lakes community, the number of cars owned and/or operated could decline, decreasing the community’s carbon footprint and resulting in a healthier environment for its workers, businesses, and residents.

Alpha & Omega Builds for the Future

At Alpha & Omega, we don’t just build and power structures; we build for a better future—a future where women are empowered in the construction industry. Senior Vice President Milton Quinn has made it his personal mission to support women in construction through training and mentoring and assisting in building important industry relationships.

Milton and his team are committed to hiring a diverse team for their company. Currently, women are employed in various roles within their organization, including foremen, journeymen, and project managers. He also supports women-owned businesses in the construction industry, connecting them with the right tools and people to grow their business. Building for the future means building with one another.
